Thanks a lot for all your kind replies.

@tjt77 Takes a lot of knowledge and experience to get to the point recognizing that you might mix up the valve train geometry by taking too much off the head.

Something to learn each and every day by people who are kind enough to share their knowledge!
Much appreciated.

The decking of the block to bring "bonny" pistons up to level ( 50 #) along with 50 # off the head gets the push-rod scraping the push-rod hole at the block surface . This then needs relieving a tad to clear.
Shimming the rocker pedestals has the detrimental effect of moving the sweep on the valve head due to the angle between the two axis -- 35 degrees , The further lifted ,the longer the rocker arm needs to be. --- older engines with parallel axis ( vertical valves ) are not effected by packing pedestals
The geometry was never great as std.
60# off the head has no dire effect.on the rocker geometry
Has anyone else setup a dummy full travel actuation of the rocker system ? Interesting stuff
Std. rockers have an angle limitation -- lift /length of rocker arm ratio . From what i've seen that is around .420 valve lift. The sweep angle gets pretty big at that .

No worries Colin, no need to apologize! Humans are prone to commit "errors". :D
By the way, those composite gaskets at DM are not available for the time beiing.
