Daimler V8 250 Saloon - Polybush, Anti Roll Bar

Post by classiclife »

Hello,

I will at some stage need to replace the bushes on my ARB and intend to use Polybush.

Two choices available, Comfort Black or Performance.

I will be interested to hear if any V8 saloon owners have used Polybush for this job and if so which of the choices was selected.

On my other classics, I tend to go for performance bushes for the ARB but I'm not sure with regard to the Daimler, hence seeking advice.

Thank you in advance.

Regards.

Richard.

Hello Richard

I fitted Comfort Black kits front and rear to my 250 V8 which tightened things up nicely over the standard bushes, whilst still retaining the compliance that befits the Daimler.

I have used Performance bushes on other let's say more sporting classics and whilst they do improve things a considerable amount they can also introduce an element of harshness to the car.

That was the reasoning for fitting Comfort Black kits to my 250,but if It was a Mk2 3.8 manual Jaguar, then the Performance bushes would be a consideration.

given the standard rubber bushes are very soft and those on the anti roll bar are prone to oil contamination and have short life, modern materials for suspension bushes generally improve things noticeably..in my part of the world choice of meterials is somewhat limited..commonly red, yellow or black.. the red colored ones seem to be hardest.. My ford 5.0 'small block' V8 engined Daimler V8 saloon has full polybushings on the front end.. it is of different character to an original car due to the power train ( approx 280 HP and 4 speed overdrive auto box allied to 3.45 diff) mor of a 'hot rod' and closer to jaguar driving characteristics.. BUT..i dont notice any more harshness or road noise than with the standard car.. I did not fit the front bushings.. they were on the car when I aquired it.. so unsure of type used, but they appear to be red which would be the hardest type. ..
