I'm thinking about doing a conversion of the oil filter assembly. Just to get rid of that fiddly process when changing the filter.

In V8 250 Significant Change in Oil Pressure Nick mentions his conversion to a Flexolite kit.

The guys at Flexolite sell two different adaptors. One for "Dart/SP250" and another for "V8 250"
My SP has a saloon block so I'm not sure which of the two variants would fit my need.
Why two variants? What are the differences?

David Manners sells two different variants as well.
Same questions here ...

Any advice is much appreciated.

Have just taken receipt of a Flexolite oil filter conversion adapter + filter included, it's a neat bit of kit.

I do quite a bit of trade with Flexolite and their products are very good with excellent customer service.

Probably incorrect, but I think the difference may be filter related, rather than the actual adaptor - I am certain a more knowledgeable sage will give a definitive answer.

Whatever the outcome it's a good and practical conversion to do. One point I will say is that their rule-of-thumb is the company only suppiles the filter to UK customers - unless you pay additional postage; easier and cheaper to obtain a Mann filter from home.

Conversion to a modern spin on oil filter is one of the best (and simple) mechanical improvements one can make... the 'Flexolite' kits are high quality and easy to install..
very often the original set up has missing parts that allow oil to bypass the filter and prevent the filter from doing its job..oil filter changes are a messy affair and its easy to cock up the sealing ring ,and the canister can be damaged by over tightening in the past, compromising seal on the through bolt, so one often ends up with oil leaks..
A modern filter conversion resolves all these issues and make for a much cleaner and simpler oil change.. by aware that there are several different quality oil filters.. In the USA 'Wix' is known to be a high quality brand (these are also sold by Napa parts store under their own name) and 'fram' are the budget filter and known to be least effective.. use the best quality filter you can find.. it pays off in the long run.

Once the adaptor is fitted how does one go about selecting the appropriate spin on filter from the hundreds at Halfords?
