Fitting inertia seat belts

Post by Chipale »

Apologies for asking this question if it has already been asked and answered (I did a search but couldn't find anything) but, in readiness for getting my 1968 V8 250 next week, I am thinking of initial tasks to be done. My question is, can you fit inertia seat belts in the front to replace the existing static belts? If so, how easy is this and any suggestions for suppliers of the inertia belts?
Thanks

Hi
Yes you can fit inertia belts quite easily.
I fitted my own which were supplied by Quickfit seat belt services, they aren't cheap but really look correct, with chromed fittings and you choose your colour of belt to match the interior.
They supply all necessary fittings and instructions.
If you buy the cheaper " off the shelf" ones, they don't suit the car well in my opinion.

Thanks for raising this issue. I am thinking of a similar replacement. This is driven by my sons interest in using my car as a wedding car as an adjunct to his luxury executive car business.

At present the static seat belt mountings obtrude too far into the footwell area of the back seats. Ideally I would like to see the inertia reels mounted at the base of the "B" post and the centre straps mounted further forward than at present. I have a source of threaded re-reinforcement plates that I have used successfully to install rear seat-belts on my Triumph Stag.

I would be interested to hear from others who have moved seat belt mountings

TIA

Regards

H
