Vredestein Tyres

Post by Richard Vester »

I have wire-wheels with 165R-15 tyres mounted.
Can I replace these by Vredestein Classic tyres size 185x80x15?

Do I need tubes?

What's the car, what's the width of the wheels? The Vredestein Classic 185/15 are tubeless tyres but unless your wheels are specifically designed to accept tubeless, you'll need tubes (and well bands)

If your car has 165 tyres at present, the wheel width may be only 4" which is not wide enough for 185 tyres. You need 5" or 5.5" wheels and it's generally recommended to have tubes whatever wheels you have.

You would do better with the 185/70 it is a nearer match to the original Avons in rolling circumference.
Owner since the 70's, Genghis is slightly to my left.
