Gear selector cable

I could probably do with a new gear selector cable on my 1968 V8 250. Car does go into park but you have to be carweful with this (it did slip into reverase the other week when stationary!). SC Parts, from what I can see, is only place doing this cable but its £296. Ouch
Does anyone have any suggestions for replacement cable, even second hand, recon.
Thanks, Fergus

Hello Fergus,

May be worth giving Speedograph a call - cannot see anything listed but could be a good point of contact for other opportunities.

I suggest this is probably caused by slight stretching of the cable putting the quadrant slightly out of adjustment. Take the plastic cove off the quadrant and adjust the fixing of the outer cover of the cable. I think you will need to loosen it a bit, but that may be wrong as it is years since I did it.
