V8-250 Saloon: Auto box selector lever removal

Post by classiclife »

Hello,

The auto to manual conversion is progressing in the right direction, but have hit an issue that is probably obvious to some but not to me at the moment !!

I have disassembled the auto selector lever and a fair bit of the attached components.

However there is a 6" rod that runs parallel to the steering column, this connects to the selector lever and the other end is held in place by a bracket. I have stripped the rod down as far as I can see that is obvious but that is still insufficient for the rod to be removed.

I get the impression the rod is in two parts and is perhaps a compression fitting - i.e. one tube in to another.

There is what appears to be a pin and I wonder if this needs drilling out to make progress ??

In fairness I do not know and am currently stumped; if anyone can shed some light on the above I will be most grateful.

Thank you in advance and I have attached some photos to help the description.

Regards.

Richard.
