Hello Dave,
Just read your excellent pdf article, I could write loads of glowing sentences but four words will sum it up; "just brilliant - well done" !!
The fibre glass forming is of particular interest.
Thank you for sharing your project.
Regards.
Richard.

Fantastic achievement - well done!
Can you let us know what mph you get per 1000 rpm in top gear?
Thanks and great work.

Well we have gone from 4 speed + overdrive through 5 speed Japanese boxes to 6 speed Japanese box, the next step must be a 7 or 9 speed ZF auto box
Owner since the 70's, Genghis is slightly to my left.

Dave,
slightly off-topic, but shown on your writeup, - is that Robert Grinter's rear telescopic shock absorber beam you've fitted and modified for ARB, or your own design?

Re: Fancy a 6 Speed Gearbox? here's how
Thanks a lot for the kind comments so far
I'll make a note of the mph/revs when I'm out next time on a flat bit of road
Rear end is a bit of both, I bought Roberts shock beam due to time restraints and I'm glad I did its a lovely piece of work. The ARB is my own design anchored off the strengthened chassis. Theres's also one at the front straight through the crossover bar which holds the front end body work.
Cheers Dave

Dave
Also slightly off topic but very interested in your front ARB as Roberts is too low and keeps catching on the road. Any chance of pictures or more info
Many thanks
Tony

Re: Fancy a 6 Speed Gearbox? here's how
The ARB I used was from a Peugeot 405 (part no. 5170.65) with 19mm outside diameter, however any straight bar of that diameter allowing 850mm in total length would do. I first tried with manganese bar, but the heat treatment after machining was too much, so I stuck with a pre-made bar and was careful about what heat I added into it, i.e; hacksaw to length and file the square on. The bushes are from Delrin bar machined to suit required sizes. Levers are 20mm Ali' plate with centre of square to outside hole 200mm, reducing at 30mm spacings. I'm running mine at 170mm between centres which gives thereabouts 230 Llbs/in of torsional stiffness which seems spot on.
Hope that helps
