V8-250 Saloon: Hazard Warning Lights

Post by classiclife »

Hello,

For those with the V8 saloon, has anyone fitted a hazard warning light system and if so what type ??

I know you can buy the modern generic "fits-all" model type (link attached) but would like to hear from anyone who has done something different.

https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/215

It may be the case that the modern fitment is the only option at the end of the day.

Many thanks.

Richard.

The modern kit looks to be the easiest way. However, I am more than a little doubtful about a 30 amp fuse! At say 90 watts for all 4, I would have thought that a 15 amp fuse would be more than enough

Hello Christopher,

Many thanks for your reply.

I have one of these units fitted to another classic and it does the job perfectly - oddly enough that one did come with a 15amp fuse, which as you rightly say is sufficient.

All the best.

Richard
I recently fitted hazard warning lights to my car, using a kit from Auto Electric Supplies consisting of a switch, warning light, and flasher unit with a wiring diagram for pos or neg earth.
I can't see the kit on there now, although they sell all the bits separately.
I fitted the switch and warning light in the centre console beside the speaker, and the flasher unit behind the dash by the steering column, so all out of sight and discreet. (Sorry no pics)
Part no of the kit was 170902 cost £18.69 +vat
A simple procedure
John

Hello John,

Many thanks for your info, that is certainly an alternative and straight forward.

Of course the V8 saloon dash is so lovely (like all Daimlers) that one is loath to do anything too drastic, cosmetically.

There is these days a necessity for hazard warning lights, just requires placement planning.

Best wishes.

Thanks Richard but I was hoping to make up my own kit with bits and pieces I have available.
I just don't like buying things if I can make them myself, anyway it's more fun and satisfying.
