I am struggling to remove a Motorola 112 radio from my 1968 V8 250. Anyone got any tricks I dont want to avoid use brute force as I might damage the facia. There do not appear to be any restraining locks/screws but I cant see anything in the manual? Any help will be most welcome as I need to service the radio.

Re: Radio Removal
Hello Steve,
You need to pull the knobs off the radio, first.
With that done you will see a small nut on each spindle, these need to be removed and with that done the radio should come away from the fascia mounting. You may need to disconnect the wires at the back first but there is usually enough slack to let the radio down.
Make a note where the speaker wires connect to and also the correct order of the radio fascia plate.
Regards.
Richard.

Re: Radio Removal
Richard Thanks very much. That did it! I think someone in a previous ownership had glued the knobs on and they just needed a little persuasion!
Cheers

Re: Radio Removal
Yes the radio was "refurbished" by the previous owner about 12 years ago and a mp3 connector was fitted. It was always crackly but now even the mp3 is just a crackly noise. I suspect it is dirt in the volume rheostat which I am hoping a good blast of air will clear but I will do a full check. Fingers crossed. I do have the repair manual but I am hoping I don't need to go into it too deeply! Good luck with your upgrade.

Hi Steve
I doubt that air blast will do it.
I have restored loads of crackly volume and other rheostats over the years using switch cleaner. You only need a little and as such the spray can i bought over 40 years ago still works!
Just Google "Switch Cleaner" which will give various options from various suppliers. Personally I would go for the RS product.
