Battery Replacement

Post by SteveQ »

Just wondering what batteries others use to replace their negative earth V8 250 batteries, mine has died after the winter and barely holds a charge. The manual says use a BT9 battery but I cant find that in the usual suppliers . Want to order one as soon as we get back to normality! Cheers Steve

Hello Steve,

Have a look at Tanya Batteries: https://www.tayna.co.uk/

You need a 068 battery, which will provide the terminals in the correct place and the make facing you.

If you are not bothered about the name facing you, then go for 069 which tend to be a tad cheaper as demand is higher.

Once you have identified your battery, will be worth having a look round for other competitive quotes - for example ECP.

Hope that helps ??

Regards.

Worth checking the dimensions of your battery, Steve, prior to purchasing a new unit.

There will be a few mm difference in some cases, but more than acceptable under the circumstances.

Your old battery should show the CCA which is important and the replacement needs to be close enough to it; off the top of my head I think it is about 630A.

The Enduroline is a very good unit, but my personal choice would the Bosch S4026 model.

Richard, my SP was fitted with a Bosch battery when I bought the car over 10 years ago, it started the car first turn of the key after the winter layup again this spring.

I should say my car has a dynamo so it is just good quality that has sustained the battery, plus an occasional top up trickle charge over the winter.

Needless to say when the old thing does expire, another Bosch will suit me fine. Stay safe Syd

Hello Syd,

Like you, I do rate Bosch batteries and also have one in the Vitesse.
