250 V8 rear seatbelts

Post by Ronniet55 »

Hi, car is finally finished & on the road
I want to put rear belts in so that I can take the young grandchildren out. Can anybody advise on which belts to use or buy?
Regards
Ron

Hi Ronnie

My own view, for what it's worth, is that for a car like the 250 I would always want to keep period fittings.

BUT I have had quite a few passengers who struggle with the non-inertia type - they struggle with the buckle and can't adjust them to suit, because of course you don't have to adjust inertia ones so they've never done it.

And of course they can't lean forward when they want to.

And because they don't retract the buckle is flung around and does considerable damage when it hits something nice.

So perhaps for the sake of (especially young) passengers modern belts might work better.

Quickfit (not to be confused with Kwikfit) did my rear seatbelts about 9 years ago; not cheap, but very good. If you are within range of West London, definitely worth investigating. They fitted 3 inertia reel belts, with both original style chrome buckles and receptacles, and modern fittings also, as the latter work far better with child seats (the modern fittings can be hidden when not required). The reels are mounted very discretely in the boot and the belts enter the car through chromed escutcheons in the parcel shelf.
