V8-250 Saloon: EI Module - Securing Nuts

Post by classiclife »

Hello.

If you have Electronic Ignition (EI) on your vehicle, I will be very grateful if you could let me know the type of nut / screw that is securing your module to the base plate, please.

You can see from the photo that my V8 saloon has 2x domed hex nuts which I thought unusual - is your set-up the same ??

Whereas a friend of mine has a couple of screws for his set-up as can be seen in the other photos - this is how I would have guessed the EI module to be secured rather than my set-up. Perhaps the domed hex nut was part of the EI module kit that the PO fitted, whereas I have not come across this securing method before albeit I have not looked under many 20D8 dizzy caps !!

My current module - the black one, may well be an Ultra Sparks unit.

I am replacing my old module for a new one, along with the cracked wire insulator in the photo. Always another job !!

Many thanks.

Richard.
