SP250 Distributor

Does anyone have an innovative fix for a failed lubricator? The spring steel to which the lubricator pad is attached to is broken.
Before I reinvent the wheel, so to speak, I'm reaching out for clever ideas.

I made mine with a broken main spring I scrounged from a local horologist (there are different thickness springs so take a sample) and with a good pair of tin snips and pliers made a pretty good job, I have spare felt pad material and the small rivets (from a Supermarine Spitfire, yes honestly)if you need any.

Hi John, I'd be interested in what felt you used. As you can see, mine is in tatters. Fortunately, the spring is intact, but I need to replace the felt. Is this part actually necessary? I'll also need to replace the earthing strap. I was considering using a small nut/bolt instead of the rivets for ease of fitting.

Hello Sporty, If you wish I can send you a piece of felt, it's from a strip about a foot long I bought from Payen the gasket maker when they were a good company based in Slough, sadly now bought out and moved over seas. So let me know what length you want and pm or e-mail your address.
Regards John

Hi John, that would be very generous of you, thanks. I'd only need a tiny piece for the lubrication pad itself, perhaps a little bigger in case I make an error, and I'd be more than happy to cover the postage and a contribution to the cost. I was asking purely because I have no idea what felt to order off ebay and the usual Jaguar suspects appear not to have anything listed on their websites. I'll contact you via PM, many thanks.
