Hello,
Have any of you a photo of your exhaust box (center) mounting bracket and how it attaches to body and exhaust?
The previous owner fitted or had fitted a stainless exhaust and I have always thought it was a pretty ghastly job, hangs too low IMHO and connected by bits 'o rubber, see horrible pic attached.
Another point, am I alone in thinking the stainless exhausts whilst perhaps long living introduce an unpleasant cackle and tinny note to our engines? are the old mild steel systems available anywhere?
Regards
Rob C

Re: Saloon exhaust box mounting
Rob I have SS exhausts on both my SP and V8 250 and as you say they do at first sound harsh and more tinny but as they age they do seem to mellow or at least I think they do but maybe I have just got used to them.
My saloon has the silencers (mufflers) fitted horizontal and not vertical like yours are which means they are not so low slung can't think why anyone would install them that way up. Sorry no photos. Syd

Re: Saloon exhaust box mounting
My 1968 saloon has the silencers fitted vertically like yours. They are mild steel supplied by David Manners. I checked whether it is possible to install them horizontally (which I agree would be neater) but it is not - the silencer and tailpipe is one piece and will only fit this way.
