It would be a later version than the 250 saloon, this box being for a post 1970 car, if it will bolt to your bell housing and it mates to your torque converter then most probably, you will most definitely need to change the bell housing. the Rover 2000/2200 had less power and torque than the Daimler engine though according to Wikipedea thre were no changes except for gear ratios on Ford and Volvo which tended to have smaller engines

I am no expert but I think not. You want a D2/D1 type for your car, and in any event the governor settings etc are likely to be significantly different leading to unpredictable results , and the torque converter may well be different.
