2.5 V8 saloon under bonnet soundproofing panels

Post by Alpine Daimler »

Anybody here tried these? : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNDER-BONNET- ... ji04KtN1nw if so any good?
After 49 + years mine are no longer up to muster and l am looking for replacments, originals as you all know are formed to accomadate Air filter etc and am wondering if these from e-bay are just thinner to enable bonnet closure. Any other suggestions you may have would as always be most appreciated.
Regards
Rob c.

Mine were rather tatty and frayed, but I managed to get quite a good result by coating them with resin , which restored them not to " as new" but to serviceable condition

I have been asked by Alpine Daimler what I used, and how I applied it. The resin I used was some yacht gelcoat type resin( cannot remember the brand ) which I mixed with its appropriate hardener and then applied with a 3/4 inch paintbrush . It is best only to mix a relatively small amount at a time because it goes off quite quickly, ( sufficient to do perhaps half of one surface of an underbonnet mat ) and to clean the brush with thinners between applications, and allow the treated surface of one completed side to go off before starting on the other surface
