Hello, I have to remove the window winders from my 1937 15, the round metal trim piece has a spring maintainer, but when that is moved out of the way, I'm unable to see a grub screw, or clip that holds the winder arm in place. What's the trick ? I have given it a gentle pull but not keen to force things. Thanks for your thoughts.
Re: Daimler 15 1937
Hi Rob.
You will need to make a special tool. There is a sprung loaded pin that engages into the shafts which runs inside the handle. Graham Butler showed me a stainless "U" shaped plate he made, with a peg on the inside, but I used a price of stainless rod bent with a small hook on the end. Bear in mind if it's not been off in a long while it's probably not going to shift easily. I removed the door trim, spun it round the handle to get the winder mechanism off with it, then tackled it on the bench with some penetrant first.
Once you have discovered the trick it's easy.
Peter

Hello Peter, thanks for your help, I will take another good look at it, what I could not understand was that there just seemed nothing holding the winder that could be seen and heaving did not seem a very good idea at all. As the door cards are shot I removed them to get a clear view and all there seems to be in the way of springs is the one that presses the crome trim piece against the door card.Petelang wrote:Hi Rob.
