Daimler innovations

Post by Phillmore »

From the epicyclic pre-selector gearbox and automatic chassis oiling system to the fluid flywheel and . . . . . . the self extinguishing cigar system! Yes as I was sat at a level crossing yesterday I decided to open the ash tray in the driver's door and it was half full of water! Another clever Daimler innovation which I assume they patented?

Did you know that up until 1915 it was an offence punishable by a fine of fourty shillings to wait in a Daimler within 25 yards of a level crossing, for fear the smoke from the sleeve valve engine would distract the driver of the on-coming train?

Honest.
