1934 Daimler LQ3-20

Post by Den1948 »

Following 11 months of research, hunting, making and mending, my Limousine is nearing completion of its 40 year restoration. Previous owner undertook full engine refurbishment over their 39 years of ownership and did a great job of this however they failed to look after important stuff like paperwork. I am now preparing to have a battle with DVLA ref registration. I have the original number plate and also a copy of the original entry at Durham county council. Unfortunately the original details of entry do not mention the car name or model etc, simply the reg plate number and name of registered keeper/owner. I have only managed to track down 4 other cars whose locations are India, New Zealand, Belgium, New Jersey, given the status of the car I Do not want an age related number, can anyone please give me some pointers on how to manage any Potential issues I may face with DVLA. And if anyone has info regarding any other lq 3-20 not listed above I would be very much obliged for your help.
Thanks.

If you have photos of the vehicle wearing its details and chassis number along with the entry for the council then there should not be any problem as I have done this with three cars now and not encountered issues as they put on the V5c the information you provide ie:-

Make:- Daimler
Model:- LQ3-20 (Hopefully)
Body Type :- Limousine

The only issue is providing the LQ3-20 which I think due to V5 entry restrictions (they use codes to enter the information) this might be a problem as you can see from the pictures they don't always get it right so you might have to persevere with them to get it correct.

This one is Correct

Missing Model Type which is an Empress (DVLA said was not a code option for this)

Missing Model Type (DHC) (have not bothered altering as it says coupe and its in a poor state at the moment)

you will need A V55/5 comes by post you can order here https://www.gov.uk/dvlaforms

and form V765 which you can download from here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 150814.pdf

which then has to be completed and sent to the club along with copies of the info you have usually stating an independent person that can verify the information provided local garage etc. when this form is returned stamped by the club you send both forms with your evidence to the DVLA and await a response.

hope this helps sorry its long if any questions please ask
