Seriously, I'm sure we could have a stab at them all. I don't mind doing one but alas I haven't a clue how to build a website.

There's an AMAAAAA-zing (say it in a Liverpudlian accent) set of documents supplied by Darren Watkinson, I've been offered more rare documents by Dave Philpot and Steve Moore has sent 8 technical articles which I'll add over the next days (one is on as a sample of the quality).
Send me whatever you have - photos too and I'll get them posted up.

Re: New DB18 specific website
Well they are simple to build using the Wix tools but there is a cost in time and money. This has probably taken me 15 hours so far and is about £35 a year for the domain (db18.org) and £4 a month for the Wix subscription which provides the tools to build the site.
The site could be expanded to cover any number of models once we have a template to follow and somebody with the enthusiasm to maintain the individual model sites.
I am of the opinion that the entire club archives could be digitised and make available this way. It would be a big project but the club has a considerable financial resources which are just sitting in a bank.

I certainly wouldn't mind maintaining a site (or section of a bigger site) covering DK400s.

Hi Graham,
Excuse me if I'm being thick, but why did you have to start a separate website,
why not put it on the existing one?
We have so many websites, it would be nice to get them all under one umbrella?
Helen

Graham,
Congrats. I look forward to the collection of how-too's, and the where froms.
(I rather liked the one that someone created for the LD10, so happy to contribute)
Taking Helen's point, it would be great to see the Forum with that much detail, but I think it needs the focus and dedication
sometimes to create a detailed picture of any model.
For me, The Forum will always be important as an exchange of knowledge and support, and hopefully a close link to the DB18 Site you are working on.

There is a list of links to other websites here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=838Db n j wrote:Taking Helen's point, it would be great to see the Forum with that much detail, but I think it needs the focus and dedication sometimes to create a detailed picture of any model.

Many people wish to create their own website so that they can style it how they want, rather than force their information into a forum format. However, anyone is free to start a topic for a particular model and if it gets a lot of data or replies it can be given a forum of its own.

Re: New DB18 specific website
Why did I start a new website?
It's a matter of control and maintenance. The DLOC website is written using a particular set of tools that need specialist knowledge and skills. It's not really possible for somebody without those skills to add to it. To ask the author and editor of the existing site to make the changes would impose a considerable amount of work.
The forum is a different type of website, it is interactive, dynamic and changing, topics come and go. I want a set place where the information would be static, like a reference library. In no way does it replace the forum which remains the only place to pose a questions and get answers.
I have built the DB18.org site using a very modern system that as easy as writing a Word document (well nearly that easy) and can be changed in a moment, so no specialist skills required.
