DB18 and mice!

Post by John Hitchins »

Opened my boot to this mice nest today. The boot was organised but rags and leathers strewn all over the place. I cannot see how they got in ad the interior looks fine.
One of the joys of classic car owning.

One of the problems with mice is that they can fit anywhere one could fit a pencil. They need very little space to gain entry and once they find somewhere nice and dry they will attempt to make it their home possibly doing damage as they alter the space to their liking. In addition, they have to gnaw on something to keep the length of their incisor teeth correct and whatever they find suitable might well be your car. PVC cabling, PVC pipework etc etc.
The best way to deal with them is poison bait but only where other animals cannot feed on it. Black Pearl grain bait is available on the internet. I bought some from a company in Devon. Very effective providing the corpses are disposed of correctly.

I tried several things to keep the mice out of my garage. I tried poisoned meat they didn't touch, ultra sonic noise detergents even put signs up ( I'm a sign maker) . No avail. What's the chances of having deaf, anorexic, dyslexic, vegetarian mice !

Get some bait boxes and Tomcat2 blocks from here:
http://www.pestcontroldirect.co.uk/
Always use a bait box, the blocks are very palatable to dogs and wildlife.
Add a couple of traditional mouse traps placed along the edge of the wall near the garage doors and you should be sorted. Rats and mice will usually run along where the wall and floor meet so that's where to place your bait boxes and traps.
