Mike, if brand new linings are fitted they will bed in just like relined brake shoes. Initially brake band wear is at a greater rate in the early stages as the bands centralise
and the linings settle down and wear to the annuli profile, but the self adjusting mechanism should take care of that. If all is well and the initial adjustments are right I'd be inclined to doubt the brake bands would grab and even if they did it should soon correct itself...but don't quote me! If you've moved a band to another gear it will wear to that gear's annulus, but it's not a good practice and I personally wouldn't recommend it.
