Pre-selective Gearbox (Wilson Patent)

Post by Hedgie »

I am restoring a 1950 DB18 DHC, Chassis Number: 56049, Engine Number: 42200

I am trying to find documents describing its (Wilson) Pre-selective Gearbox. At present I have found 2 documents on the internet:-
  • LUBRICATION and CARE of the WILSON SELF-SELECTING SELF-CHANGING GEARBOX
  • INSTRUCTION BOOK of the E. N. V. PRE-SELECTIVE G E A R B O X
I have digitised the first and am in the process of digitising the second (both into Word documents). I am happy to make either or both available to members.

Does anyone know of any other documents on this subject which are available - free or otherwise?

See below for pictures of my gearbox.

Tony,

There is a large format book that describes the gearbox in detail, slightly larger than A4 which I am currently in the process of digitizing will send you a copy when finished, have not come across much more.

Some years ago I was able to buy (from an ad in the DM) a book called "The Wilson Preselector Gearbox Armstrong Siddeley - Type", by Peter "Banjo" Meyer. Herr Meyer is German, and the book was published in Germany. However, it is in English. It is quite complete, covering teardown, overhaul, etc.

Not sure where one would buy the book now, but there is a website:

www.preselector-gearbox.de

The website comes up in German, but an English translation is available by clicking a box in the upper right corner of the page.

Darren,
I have had the fluid flywheel and self changing box book digitised for YEARS now and have sent out a load of CDs to people who wanted it.
Cheers
