Just checked and Countrywide (our local ag supplier) sell Morris's products but no mono-grades. I guess most farm machinery these days is more modern than our old bangers ;)

Lawn mower engine oil seems to be a straight 30 grade and is a mineral oil. Any reason not to use this?

I'd guess it wouldn't be up to spec for an epicyclic gearbox as a lawnmower is relatively unstressed?

HI Andy,

I don't know what they charge for carriage as I normally buy a stock from them at a show during the year. They attend quite a few. Oil is bulky and heavy, so probably not cheap.

Hi Chaps, surely Castol XL is a straight 30 grade , shouldn’t be too difficult to find .

Cheers A’l :D

Yes it's the Castrol XL30 that I'll go for as it specifies suitability for epicyclic gearboxes on the tin, so presumably the additive mix is not too 'slippery'.

ON my link page 2 shows Castrol but lots of the others say the same for gearbox , the Castrol just more money so we hope it is better Morris oil should be its equal .
At the end of the day it is choice of he who pays. :D :D
