1950 Docker Daimler She is out and being worked on

Post by 1950showcar »

To all,

As I promised, work has started on getting DE36 running/driving and looking good again. It has taken longer than I thought to get pass the first step, with only another. 19,999 to go. Starting to look, find, make, repair and research for the journey of putting a piece of art back on the road. So far gas tank removed, carburetor, fuel pump, all for reconditioning to get the wheels turning. Looking over the old wiring system, it seems that 90% will have to be replaced or I will be roasting marshmallows "Not Good". The rear fender skirts have me puzzled, they have taken a beating over the years. It seems like I have most of the parts or a enough to fabricate, but I wish I had photos/drawings of how it works. Maybe JDH Museum, Mark Hyman or Clive would let me take a peek? I am hoping by June it will start and roll on it own power, wish me luck.

P.S. Thanks to all for support and kindness
Thanks Eric Weese

Hi Eric
Which Docker Daimler was it? I had the Zebra car on the Club stand at the NEC car show. I may have some pictures of it somewhere but they may take some finding. Was this your car?
Regards

Colin

Eric,

I obtained a copy of the drawing for our Hooper Empress, by giving the body number to The British museum, who hold the Hooper records. (There is a small fee).

Hopefully someone will remember the contact details. ??

Good luck, be good to see a pic and a chassis number etc

Thank you Eric for keeping us updated. Please continue and any photos would be appreciated.
Colin, this is the car at various times in its life.
How it can have degenerated is beyond me.

How Wonderful is that!
I can attest to the tight squeeze when a DE36 is loaded into a shipping container.
Some more photos of the car would be very welcome.
Cheers

Eric

Truly a work of art. I drool.

You are a lucky man! You must keep us all in the picture, please.

The Hooper rercords are held by the Science Museum at their outstation at Wroughton in Wiltshire. I have the contact details somewhere and I'll try to dig them out. They can send photcopies by post or on a CD.

Regards

Geoff

Eric, I don't seem to have your details in the register. Would you mind sending them to my email pruifrok@online.nl?
Thanks in advance! Peter Ruifrok
