DB 18 Consort Rear Shock Absorber Links

Post by NickDeAth »

Two of the pins in my drop links (one each side) have come adrift from the links.

Has anyone repaired these? Are bushes available? Are they just a press fit? I have access to a press.

Thanks and regards.

Nick

David Beales does the links as an exchange.
The replacements come with new pins.

Hi Marcel,
When I had mine done years ago it was before exchange replacements were available.
My mechanic bushed them with an appropriate softness neoprene bush then refitted pressing them in and drilled the pin and put in a split pin to stop the bushes coming adrift which had happened to one before I had it repaired.
Seems to be holding well with reasonable ride now probably ten years on.
Just back from our Australian National Rally, 1156 miles, or 1861.50 kilometres and only a flat tyre and one loose wire!
Now to fixing the flywheel oil leak and balancing the prop shaft to smooth out an annoying vibration over 55 mph.
Cheers

When I refurbished my front end last year I got them reconditioned by David Beales. They were returned quickly and he’s updated the fixing so they will stay together hopefully permanently. Worth the money in my opinion.

Thanks Graham, the second recommendation for David Beales I'll give a try.
