Daimler Avon Convertible

Post by dontpanic_2000 »

Hello,

i am doing some historical research on my Daimler Avon Convertible.

Now a big step forward for the history file of my Daimler is: On the 5th of July 1980, the “Autocar” magazine reports about the then new Avon-Stevens-Convertible and the dark car in the middle (XWT 886S) is my car, with the old number plates. So, the conversion most probably was done in 1979 and obviously the car was used for press photos. Many thanks to David for his help.

In 1989, there was a change in registration to RYU 496 and in 1991 the car was acquired by the Bodyshop Magazine, restored and used for exhibition purposes.

I am still looking for some missing links in the history of the car, e.g. the first owner is unknown. If anybody does have some more informations or photos of that car, please let me know. Any hint is welcome.

Thanks, Joachim
