Conquest passenger door lock

Post by BigJAK »

My passenger door will not lock (pssst, don’t tell anyone), the inner handle opens the door but will not go the opposite was to lock the door.
Any ideas why? Any fixes?
Thanks

If it's like my DB18, you can only lock the passenger side with the key. The driver's side can be locked with the handle. Odd I know but that's how they are. Of course the DB18 is the generation before so yours may be different, somebody will tell us.

Yes that is correct for the Conquest. Passenger door can only be locked with the key to prevent locking the keys inside I presume.

The cars were made with the key on the passenger side. I suspect the thinking at the time was that you should be on the pavement locking your car not stood in the road. It would seem that someone has swapped your exterior door handle with the key lock from the passenger side to the drivers side. Easiest fix is to to swap it back to where it should be. Just one screw behind the door rubber fixes the handles in place.

Simple.
Nothing to align or connect.

Remove the set screws on the door edge, lift off handles and swap over. Simple as that.
Normal for Norfolk

So are you saying your passenger door doesn't have a key hole?

If it helps - as I recall, the door handles on the Conquest range are the same as late 1950's Morris Oxfords
