Petrol tank for Daimler Conquest

Post by David Y »

Dear All
Does anyone know if there is a petrol tank that can be modified to fit a Daimler Conquest 1953?
Mine is in very poor condition. It has been cleaned but the lining could not be removed and there's lots of holes. It is possible to repair it but I wonder how reliable it would be as it is very rusty.
many thanks
David

Hi David
I had the Special Sports tank treated by this company;
https://www.fueltanks.co.uk/
They were not cheap, but they patched the leaks, then coated the inside with some wonder ethanol-resistant stuff, and then finished the outside with something that looks rather like 1950`s/1960`s underseal. I think they have a licence from an American company. No complaints about the work at all.

The process is called Re-Nu, but there are only a few companies in the UK that hold the franchise. I used Arrow Radiators of Melksham in 2015, and was pleased with their work, which included replacement of some holed sections. You can buy the chemicals to coat the inside of the tank yourself, but that would need good metal to already be in place.

Dear both
Thank you very much.
The car has not been on the road since 1978. It was scrap and the tank is in very poor condition and considered not worth repairing.
I'm considering making one.
many thanks
kind regards
David
