The DVLA can for the Police. Not sure if they'll do it for a member of the public now (GDPR and all that).

Hi, if your car has been registered with one of the DLOC’s Registrar, they may be able to crack down your Reg No, but of course it would be Very time consuming having to look at every Chassis No , things that could help would be
Approx date of 1 st Reg
Body type
Body / Int colours
And perhaps your location etc

Just a thought,, Al 😀

What happens if you ask DVLA for a replacement V5?
"You need to get a log book (V5C) if the original has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, or you haven’t received one for your new vehicle.

Apply by phone

Apply by phone if you’re the registered keeper on the log book that’s gone missing or is damaged.

You need to pay £25 by debit or credit card.

You can’t apply by phone if your name, address or vehicle details have changed. You have to apply by post instead.

It can take up to 5 days to get the replacement log book."

They have your name and address and other details, do they need the Reg number?

Have you got an old MOT or insurance document?

Can you contact a previous owner?
