Hi everyone I thought someone might be interested in my experience in rebuilding a Special Sports gearbox. My car was running until around 1985. By this stage it was very tired. The planetary gears especially overdrive hub had overheated because the bronze bushes between gear sets had worn so badly that hubs would touch. Fortunately no damage was done. So new bronze bushes were custom made and bearings then installed!
It's worth pulling apart your gear box before catastrophic damage ensues! Cheers
