Unless by chance you have such a thing in hand I should have made the point that a usable V8 engine and gearbox, in particular one with a manual gearbox, will be expensive. Typically I would think a couple of thousand pounds minimum. If you buy one that needs work, hold on to your wallet, it could cost £5,000 to overhaul the engine alone.

And could you find a Daimler V8 engine that somebody would part with? They aren't commonly found for sale and if they are, they'll be knackered.
A nice GM V8 and box maybe?

Syd, I see you agree, sorry I didn't see your post before offering my two pennyworth.

Have been offered a healthy Omega with a 3.2 V6 and auto box............may be worth pursuing, as Daimler V8 seems to pretty much unobtainable for reasonable money..........

Don’t forget that the Daimler factory fitted a Century Auto with a V8 engine as a test bed for the V8.
John Box wrote about it in an article that appeared in your UK magazine some years ago.
He said that the car startled other road users as the rather upright dated saloon steadily gained on then overtook more modern cars on the road.
It sounded as if there was no great problem with the performance of the car with the replacement engine, so if a good V8 was available you may be able to recreate the factory test car from 1957/58.
Cheers
