There are two spigot that attach the radiator to the cross member on the chassis
There is a convenient hole through which you can slip a socket to undo the nut
That is unless on one side as some point in the cars life a plate has been welded over the hole.
2nd beef - why are tank cutter bits so useless - made in china perhaps

I think you are taking the radiator mounting frame off with the radiator attached. The radiator bolts to the frame down the sides. Not 100% sure but this maybe sufficient to get enough clearance without removing the complete frame.

I understand the welding though as this is probably the only weak spot on the chassis - a moisture trap and the first crush zone for frontal impacts.
