Electronic ignition - 6cy 2.4 75hp
Is there a specific electronic ignition kit that is particularly suitable for the Conquest?

The best one is the one you don't fit

Hi
Assuming that your car is positive earth then I would suggest you do not bother I had nothing but trouble with the Dart. If you distributor is worn then I would suggest you get the Distributor Doctor to rebuild it. He is not cheap but does an excellent job.
Regards
Colin

The distributor doctor do a number of electronic ignition kits. Well worth contacting them to get the best option for your car.

I fitted a Powerspark ignition kit to my DB18. They do them in positive and negative earth and not get expensive ( I think my positive earth one which is a bit dearer was £45). The thing I like about them is they are so easy to fit as it comes fitted to the plate that your points fit onto, so two screws and one wire and it's done. Even better is that because the existing plate lifts out complete with points and condenser I just keep it in the glove box and if there should be a problem with the electronic ignition it is a quick easy job to change. It is just like carrying spare points and condenser only even better because they are already set up on the plate and so a 5 minute roadside change in an emergency.

Re: Electronic ignition - 6cy 2.4 75hp
I fitted electronic ignition to my DS420 cars, and I am very happy with it. The old Lucas ignition with points caused many problems, especially after the winter break. The fact that the points were renewed each year did not improve things. I definitely would not want to go back to the old style.
But: not long after the change the ignition coil of one of my cars failed. Then I learned that an electronic ignition puts a much heavier load on the coil, and an upgrade to a high quality coil is strongly recommended.

That is correct as electronic ignition (EI) delivers a far larger and stronger spark - ideally the coil should be upgraded to compliment that; I have always used a Lucas Sports Coil when converting to EI.
In addition it is also worth opening out the plug spark gap a bit as this allows a fuller spark to develop.
