Yes I would be interested.
Has anyone got any more pictures or details of how it's fitted?

Re: Calling all Conquest and Century owners, Carpet retaining rubbers
i have heard back from the suppliers; they will do a smaller minimum run but at 3 times the price!
So this is where we are.
The rubber strips come in 4 metre lengths. The cost per strip is £49.98 plus p&p. DJ252 and DJ254 owners will need one strip per car. I don't yet now how many metres are required for the DJ saloons - can anyone measure one up for me?
There are currently 6 people interested in ordering a strip - I need to find 6 more people before I can place the order for the strip. I am going to try to get this mentioned in the Club Magazine to drum up some more interest. However this may take 2 months - can you all wait that long? I guess that if I can find 3 more interested buyers now, I could take the risk and try to sell the remainder, later on.
Any thoughts?

Thanks Henry
Add me to the list for the Dauphin. I'll need to check the length required, but it's not likely to be more than other DJ models.
They don't need replacing now, but I like obtaining hard to find spares when they're being remanufactured and are affordable.
I put my name forward to Barry Thorne when he tried to organise the manufacture of SP250 front suspension vertical links, decades ago, but there were insufficfient numbers, they were expensive; and I eventually found a good used pair at a much lower price. I don't understand why there are always so few owners interested when such opportunities arise.
Thank you for taking the trouble to organise this. I'll PM you too.
Best regards
Geoff

Re: Calling all Conquest and Century owners, Carpet retaining rubber strips
Hi Chris,
Here are couple of photos showing the attachment of the retaining strip.
The front section at an angle is missing but the brass strip can clearly be seen. The shorter 'leg' of the rubber is sandwiched between the brass strip and the floor/cill. This photo shows the retainer in its rest position. The carpets slides under it (as at the right of the photo). You can clearly see the mark of the retaining strip in the carpet pile.
This shows the retaining strip folded back.
On my car the brass strip and poprivets are unlikely to be original but are close enough.
Hope this helps.

The Majestic Major has a very similar setup with the carpet.

Re: Calling all Conquest and Century owners, Carpet retaining rubber strips
Thank you to all those who have responded.
I still don't have quite enough interest to place an order yet. I have sent an article to the editor of the Driving Member and he has agreed to put it in the magazine, so that should generate a bit more interest (when it comes out).
I will email all those who have responded with a request for the retaining strip, to keep you updated with progress.
In the meantime there has been a suggestion that the Majestic Major uses a similar fitment, can any one confirm that? Or any other 50s/60s Daimler Saloon? Can you ask around?

Re: Calling all Conquest and Century owners, Carpet retaining rubber strips
Hi,
If you look at the photos on the link to the Majestic major advertised for sale in Australia on the forum it appears that the fitting is different in that the rubber strip is rounded rater than a straight edge cut into an angle.
Sorry tried to copy and paste the photo but it didn't work
Cheers
Peter Grant
