DJ252 QUATER LIGHT WINDOW

HI ALL
My DJ252 has no rubber seal between the glass frame and the body waist moulding so the rain runs straight down into the car body.
Should their be a rubber seal?
The hood just goes into the Quarter light metal surround which is very wide.
Again should their be a rubber insert fitted to make a better fit to the hood?
Any advice as I am looking to make a better fit and a more water resistance car.

I think that Conquests were designed on the “flow through” principle. There is a rubber strip at the bottom of the quarter window on my DJ 252, but this is more of a water deflector than a seal. Also, the bottom of the hood behind the quarter window does not seal out water, but deflects it to a tray under the hood from which it drains through drain tubes.

i can confirm Chris's comments. I think the rubber strip on the quarters lights are more of a dust/debris seal than a water seal.

With the hood up most of the rain drains into the hood storage cavity which has 2 drain holes (one each side). These drain through the boot via rubber hoses (visible at each front corner of the boot) and eventually through the boot floor. Very unsophisticated, even looks like an after thought!

As for the channels around the perimeter of the quarter light for the hood to fit in, I think they just rely on being a good tight fit. They are designed to be lowered with the hood in the raised position, if needed. So introducing a rubber seal could prevent this, but that might not be a big issue.
