Re: DB18 Torque Values

Post by Mark Bullen »

Thanks again for the input of all, and a little bit of controversy to boot. I can confidently state that my 1950 DB18/2 rear wheel bolts are 5/8" BSF and the correct socket is 9/16" Whitworth (BSF equivalent isn't stated on the socket).
I checked the undoing torque on the bolts I had done up by hand and achieved about 60lbft although a bit of a variable and unreliable method of checking, but not too bad considering done by hand.

All bolts now at 60lbft (pretty close to 62 to 66)and I will monitor to see if anything changes. This torque felt right and now we'll see if they retain the torque during the huge miles it racks up every year.

It was also quite handy as I could get some penetrating oil into the leaf springs whilst the wheels were off, and a few pumps of the grease gun in the rear bearing whilst the hubcaps was off.

Thanks to everyone
