Hello Graham,

As per Syd's link, I would certainly use Burlen who are excellent and very helpful albeit difficult to get hold of sometimes in the current situation.

I have one of the SU / Burlen carburettor manuals and below is the info you require I believe, based on a 1951 DB18 6 cylinder:

Carb Spec Number = AUC368
Carb Type = HV4
Carb Qty = 1
Weak Needle = 61
Std Needle = EG
Rich Needle = DR
Jet = AUC8182
Needle Valve = VZX1101
Float = WZX1303
Throttle Spindle = WZX987
Throttle Disc = WZX1323
Gasket Kit = AUE949
Service Kit = CSK40
Rebuild Kit = CRK205

Hope that assists.

Regards.

Richard.

There is an SU manual on Graham's DB18 website you may find useful

Carb kit arrived today so I removed and stripped it down, I wasn’t sure how best to remove 69 years of crud and get it clean it so I soaked it in alloy wheel cleaner for a couple of hours, it fizzed and foamed and came out spotless, I then polished it up a bit and the results were really good👍🏻

So does anyone else have a problem with ‘disappearing parts’ when I took the carb off I carefully put all the nuts washers nipples etc into a small ice cream tub, put the lid on and put it on the shelf, went back today to refit the carb and everything is there except the nipple for the choke cable - the nut is in there but not the nipple😱.
I think it’s witchcraft 🧟‍♀️🦹🏼‍♂️🧙🏼
The other problem now is that I only need one soldier less nipple but you have to buy 10, who needs 10?🤪

Ah! Graham, the missing part syndrome, closely related to the too many bits syndrome.

How often does it happen? You take something to bits carefully laying out or storing the bits, only to find despite the care you have taken you have something missing or something left over when it comes to reassembly. Syd

It's probably run away with the 7/16 socket that always walks off and hides...
