Daimler story. Who owns this now??

Post by John Hitchins »

Many years back (30 at least) the Daimler in the picture came through my home village of West Hagbourne in Oxfordshire. It had taken a corner to fast and the battery moved in the case causing smoke to come from under the floor boards.
The battery had shorted againt metal plates.
The chauffeur was on the way to pick up a retiring gentleman.
Having owned a DB18 back in 1967 I was aware of the problem. I roped up the battery and all was well. The promised bottle of whiskey never turned up!
Where is this car now?

I don't know whether the owner mentioned here still has it, as this video is quite old, but interesting nevertheless!

Peter Grant indicates that this car is in the Grampian Museum.

I am not so sure its the same car, the door handles meet in the middle on the museum one but in my picture they are front and back like a DB18. Unless its my eyes, a problem these days.

I think this is one for Brian Smith. He is quite an expert on Royal Daimlers.
