I've got one. Peter from http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/ can fit it in the old box using the same terminals and you never see the difference, but it is completely trouble free. Brilliant. No fiddling around with the adjusting nuts. He needs to know if you are positive earth and asks you to do some dynamo tests, but fitting it is a doddle. Expensive, but worth it.bop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 4:47 pm I purchased a DVR3N regulator last spring from this site, http://dynamoregulators.com/dvr3.php
I plan to install it in a spare parts Lucas RJF regulator, but my restoration project is taking a lot longer then anticipated! Maybe next year at this time I can tell you how well it works

Re: Dynamo
He also needs the exact model of the dynamo - it is stamped on the casing.
Well worth the investment.

Re: Dynamo
How much do they charge to convert the regulator box and what exactly is the dynamo conversion?

Re: Dynamo
OR you can just get an alternator which looks exactly like the original Prince of Darkness dynamo. You then use the old regulator box as a junction box and it all looks the same except, you get better amps. A very clever and nice piece of work all machined from aluminium .
Re: Dynamo
Thanks bob, I'll have a serious think about this. I have never forced myself into putting a date when my restoration will be finished, even though I'm getting closer to the finishing line. You never know what is going to happen in life. As my partner tries to tell me, there's more things in life than that damn car ha ha
Re: Dynamo
Neil I will check the number on the dynamo and invest in one if it fits in the old regulator box and is ok to use on +earth
