Bonnet tape fixing
Bonnet tape fixing
I'm thinking about replacing my car's bonnet tape. I will probably buy it from Woolies. I've not done this job before. Do I need a special rivetting tool? Thanks.
Re: Bonnet tape fixing
Usually it's just small bifurcated rivets for this, as far as I know. Small washer on the "leg" side and a small hole punch for the bonnet tape to make a nice job of it.
A plain jawed pair of pliers, or a cloth round the one jaw of a mole wrench will stop the top face of the rivet getting marked, especially if it is a chrome plated one.

Thanks Simon. Do you happen to know where I can buy chrome bifurcated rivets? I think Woolies just have brass plated.

You could try Paul Beck, I think the name is now Vintage Supplies or something similar. Based in or near Norwich.

I don't know what size you need, but ebay usually has a good selection.
