Gear selection on lj200

Post by Graham »

As I get close to driving the car on the road for the first time and never having drove a preselect before I thought I would make sure that I can select the gears. I selected reverse and pulled the gear selector on the box forward to reverse and then connected it up. Then I thought I would get in the car and select each gear and pump the pedal 30 times in each position. In reverse the pedal went down and came back up, in neutral I pressed the pedal and it stayed down I then selected 1st and the pedal stayed down again, when I selected 2nd and 3rd the pedal came up. Could somebody help me out and tell me what i’m doing wrong.

The pedal will come back a different distance in each gear. Neutral and first come back the least distance. Hopefully it is just this phenomenon that you are experiencing

Thanks Chris. I won’t mess about with it until I have give it a run then . Insured it today and was surprised it only cost £81.75 . Just waiting for the carpet to come from Coverdale then I can refit the seats and I should be ready to go.

Hi Graham,
are you a member of the International Association of Grahams? We Grahams must stick together.
You will find a full manual on the gearbox on the website www.db18.org and find the publications page.
