Lj200 steering box leak

Post by Graham »

I have a leak from my steering box. It is coming from the bottom of the box and running down the drop arm, I have looked in the service manual and can’t see any seals to replace. It also says the box is leak proof, well mine isn’t. Does anyone have any ideas, is there a seal in the box I could replace without taking the box out?

Easy cheat is to drain the box and fill it with semi - liquid grease.

Thanks Neil. I did think about that, but wasn’t sure. The swivel housings on land rovers used to have hypoid 90 and they now use a replacement fluid grease, maybe this will do?
