CYLINDER HEAD

Post by wrooms »

Dear All,

We have rescued a much unloved cylinder head from being scrapped. By eye and casual measurement it looks exactly the same as my existing LA 11 cylinder head which we have just refurbished.

The trouble is that the ident number - 40427 - does not seem to be in the series for the LA 11. Before we spend time and effort on it, can anyone help us to identify it against Lanchester model(s)?

Best Regards

Simon

Hi Dave , certainly looks like a LA11 Cylinder Head to me . Note the Inlet and Exhaust Ports , LA 10 are completely different, I also have a complete spare Head, so will take a look at the numbers on that, and also on the one fitted to my “ Eleven”

Hi Sorry, I haven’t got to look at the spare Head or the one fitted to my “Eleven” yet, but I think the No you are referring to over the centre Exhaust Port, is probably merely a Casting No .
I will try and investigate later today .
One thing to note:- If you intend to overhaul this Cyl Head, make sure that you replace all of the Core Plugs, especially the ones running along the top, I had an instance where one “Popped out” resulting in a Sump full of Water. !! I had to call out the rescue company to take me back home 😟😟
Cheers Al 😊😊
