Footman James Restoration Show 4th & 5th November 2017

Post by JT7196 »

Hi Chaps, just to let you know, that as usual, I Am organising the stand for the DLOC .
This year, I have managed to secure a 1924 BSA E 114,( A very rare “ Sleeve Valved” motor car indeed!,,) there will also be a1933 Lanchester LA10 & a 1934 Daimler 15 Hp all in an unrestored condition, so do come along and visit the stand, you may even get a cuppa and a Biscuit !
not from Shelton Mallet in Somerset .

The Showground, near ,Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 6QN. The showground is easily accessible from the M5 and is situated along the A371 Castle Cary – Shepton Mallet road.

Best wishes A’l :D

Al, maybe you can give a little advice.
I am thinking of visiting both the Shepton and Stoneleigh shows. Shepton on Saturday and Stoneleigh on Sunday with an overnight stay at a suitable watering hole Saturday evening. The fact that Leeds is quite a distance makes me wonder if the Shepton show is worth the trek. Of course it will be an opportunity to meet you but that apart I am sceptical as to the content of the show due to the sponsors.
It looks like mainly motorcycle and train magazines. Does that mean that most of the show is based around them rather than cars. It is not that I don't appreciate the aforementioned but It's car stuff I am chasing not bike bits.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !

Hi, Colin, not sure about your “Mainly Motortor Cycle and Train Magazines” comment, the organisers are actively promoting more Autojumble stalls inside and outdoors, there has been a fair bit of crtisism about previos events held there, and I believe that the new organisers have listened . We shall see..............
I’m pretty sure that you would have an enjoyable day, and I would be delighted to meet up with you.

Cheers A’l :D

Ps, Although there will obviously be some Motor cycle parts on sale, I would say that most are car parts, and quite a lot of Tool suppliers etc .

I, together with another of our East Midlands members have visited this show a couple of times. Believe me, it is well worth the visit. The show is very similar in layout to the Restoration Show at Stoneleigh. Within the buildings there are numerous classic car club stands, a huge number of autojumble stalls , tools and equipment stalls etc.
You will find plenty of coffee/tea , food outlets too. Outside there will be more autojumble and trade stands, all hoping for a fine day!
You will find a very friendly and warm welcome at the Daimler and Lanchester stand, and a very interesting selection of cars on display.
Parking is easy, and quite close to the buildings, which is useful if you are carrying something heavy or bulky.
It is difficult to say which of the 2 shows is the largest, I don't think there is much difference.
Enjoy!!

Hi, Colin, great to meet up with you, and of course all the other members.
Well, the stand was very busy over the weekend, with the BSA attracting the most attention of course, the owner also has its "Sister" as well, so I'm intending to take a look, as it's not too far from me, so will take some pictures as soon as I get the chance.
My thanks go to John & Caroline for bringing the BSA and the Lanchester LA10, also of course to Jeff for bringing his lovely Daimler 15.
Hopefully, I may be able to secure a couple early "Thirties" Lanchester's for one of the shows next year, so watch this space for more details.

Best wishes, A'l :D :D
