Some one has had a bespoke bellhousing to fit a Borg Warner T5 gearbox to the Daimler V8, but I do not know who. It supposedly was shipped to Scotland. Anyone know of this and who might be the lucky owner?
The manufacturer in New Zealand has not replayed to my E-mail.

Daimler V8 to Borg Warner T5 gearbox bellhousing
Re: Daimler V8 to Borg Warner T5 gearbox bellhousing
No idea but
Some time ago (between five or ten years) Barry Thorne got a hold of some bell housing blank castings. I can’t say if he has any left but if your in the market it may be worth a chat.

Re: Daimler V8 to Borg Warner T5 gearbox bellhousing
I purchased a blank bell housing from Barry Thorne a couple of years ago and have not used it. In fact I purchased "Dellow" made bell housing from Australia and thus ex-Barry one is surplus.......It is with me in the USA and if someone wants it is can be made available.

Is it made from steel or aluminium?Ozzsp250 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 12:21 am I purchased a blank bell housing from Barry Thorne a couple of years ago and have not used it. Does anyone have pictures of the blanks?
Re: Daimler V8 to Borg Warner T5 gearbox bellhousing
I don’t have pictures but can confirm that they were for saloon V8s rather than SP. The starter motor positions are relevant. That said with welding and machining capabilities anything is possible and it has been done.

Re: Daimler V8 to Borg Warner T5 gearbox bellhousing
When I purchased my Daimler V8 it was atttached to a Toyota Corona 4 speed transmission. It was fitted to a Hot Rod that the owner wished to re-power.
All of the belhousing and transmission I couldn't incorporated into the building of my midget and has all be set aside as surplus to needs.
Some years later I eventually met the previous owner of the Hot Rod who built up the engine - transmission combination.
I learned that he used a Dellow belhousing to suit a Ford Escort. I have had the serial no. stamped on the housing confirmed by Dellows. As the motor was a dedicated auto transmission style engine a flywheel and matching starter motor had to be fitted. As best I understand it these are all Ford Escort items. The sump has had some surgery to provide clearance for the starter motor. This flywheel and clutch has been retained for my midget.
On checking with a Toyota steel case (W55) 5 speed this transmission will also bolt directly to the bellhousing I have as 4 of the 6 attaching bolts are in the same location as the Corona 4 speed.
If any one is interested in the bellhousing and transmission please let me know.
