Re: 1939 BSA SCOUT
the wheels on the later cars do not do them justice.. earlier spoke wheels suit the car well.. I do recall driving one of these decades back in UK ..it was abandoned in my local car park and languished for several months...eventually someone grabbed it, obtained legal title and got it back on the road.. since i'd shown interest, he allowed me to take it for a spin. It was black with green interior and in really decent shape.. body lines very good and the handling was really superb..FWD and low centre of gravity no doubt helped..gearbox had quite a loud whine in most gears ..but the engine is a rather lackluster affair ( a sub 1100 cc coventry climax 'flat-head' as I recall) compared well in style to contemporary MGs.. and far more balanced in the design than the contemporary 'singer' 2 seater.. which was all out of proportion in comparison..( incidentally.. those Singers still come out of the woodwork occasionally here..although Ive never seen BSA car of any sort to date this side of the pond)
