I just got a call from a gentleman in Launceston Tasmania Paul Coles.
Paul has a 1956 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 236 and is trying to ascertain whether any Daimlers ever used the Salisbury 3HA diffs and if so what ratio.
He wants to increase the ratio in the diff in his car and is trying to get as much information as possible on these diffs.
In a bit of a search I did I found that Jaguar Mk I cars used these diffs as did some Morgans, but I haven’t yet found out if any of our cars did.
Given his car is a 1956 model Paul was wondering if the Conquest or Century diff might be a possible source of spares.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

Re: Salisbury Differential Specifications
G'day Pete,
It might be that just the crown wheel and pinions are interchangable with your friend's Salisbury axle (with just the casings being specific to the make of car), so here are the ratios for the "Conquest/Century" range:
Standard Ratios.
D.J 250/1/1/3/6/7 4.56:1 Drive gear/pinion 41/9
D.J.254/5 3.73:1 Drive gear/pinion 41/11
Alternative Ratios.
D.J. 254/5/6/7 4.10:1 Drive gear/pinion 41/10
D.J.254/5 after chassis number 90500.
4.11:1 (number of teeth not stated in manual)

Re: Salisbury Differential Specifications
That is brilliant, thank you Stan.
I shall let him know and he can then decide if he wants to source one for his car.
Cheers

Re: Salisbury Differential Specifications
You could add the DJ260 Automatic Conquest Century to this list
Rear Axle Ratio 4.09:1
Drive Gear / Pinion 45/11
Rear Axle Ratio 4.09:1
Drive Gear / Pinion 45/11

Re: Salisbury Differential Specifications
I seem to recall the diff in the DJ254 is a 7HA - 4.11 and the diff in the V8250 is a 9HA - 4.11
