Hi Andy, no didn’t bother to do a compression check as it seemed a waste of time concidering how much noise the Pisons were making !
As for Crankcase pressure, well that all gets sucked out by the Air Silencer, with the Oil Filler Cap removed , there was very little pressure being emitted .
All I can do is to wait until tomo and see what Ian Cox has to say, once He’s checked the Bore sizes, and the Pistons .
Cheers Al

Engine woes. ! !
Re: Engine woes. ! !
Hi Chaps, well the saga continues, Ian Cox has inspected and measured the Cylinder Bores which appear to be oversized, and it’s obvious that the surfaces are very “Polished” which was surprising, concidering that Ian had Glaze Busted them prior to me re- fitting the Pistons with those new Rings ,and the engine only doing circa 40 miles after completion.
So, I’m taking the “Bull by the Horns” and are going to have new Liners and Pistons fitted , let’s hope this sorts this engine out once and for all !! We shall see.......
To be continued ....
Cheers Al

Re: Engine woes. ! !
Hi Paul, called in today, and Ian has the Liners but is still very busy with other work
so will just have to wait.
I have repainted the Sump , Rocker Cover, front and rear Castings & Bulkhead, so not completely wasted my time sitting around, may even take to repainting the Chassis if I really get bored !!
Cheers Al

Re: Engine woes. ! !
Hi, just got my Cylinder Block back from Cox & Turner, all looks pretty good , just primed the Block with Glyptal, which doubles as a primer and also acts as a sealer as well , will give another coat tomorrow, then overcoat with Two coats of Lotus Grey.
You will no doubt notice that all of the Pistons are at the top of the Bores, this is due to the fact that the Crankshaft has not been fitted yet .
Amazingly , it’s impossible to see that this Engine has been re- lined, apart from the fact that it has a new set of Standard Pistons fitted !
More pictures to follow during this complete re- build of a Lanchester “Eleven” Engine.
